VEX competition 2008!!!
Hi all... Understand that this blog has been stagnant for months... Just returned from my trip to USA, Los Angeles for the Vex Robotics World Championship 2008. After spending days with barely an hour of sleep to brush up on our robots and presentation, our efforts were finally paid off... We were awarded the Excellence Award. This is actually an award that is presented to the team which has been in the 3rd to 5th position in almost all other awards. Yeah man... It has not been easy trying to gather all our information, sort them out neatly, doing up the speeches... bla bla bla...
Basic require: Enthusiasm...
We were supposed to present to judges who will come by our booths to look at what we have done. Our 1st round was not that smooth flowing... But we managed to pull them back and then... We showed our full power... Hah... It was not that easy, but we presented all that we have until the judge was so convinced and had nothing to ask us... Then, a few other batches of judges came... And well, maybe I was too sensitive, but you can roughly tell that the judges were getting more and more 'impt' and they were pretty impressed at what we have installed for them...
Since this is a international competition, there were teams from various countries such as China, Brazil, Canada... Singapore being a multi language country became 'reknowned' for being able to help the judges with translation between the chinese and them. At 1st, we did the approaching... later on, they approached us whenever they needed one... It was really an enriching experience.
It was a pity that we didn't have a chance to thank some of the judges personally after the prize presentation ceremony, especially when they were the ones who voted for us for the award. Anyway, THANKS to all who have helped in a way or another!!!
Really looking forward to presenting the trophy to our principal. However, since the team is formed by 2 schools... we will have to settle some issues 1st...
Hope to post more soon!
