First Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010
I guess, things got really busy after my birthday... :p Back-logging now then... Let's start with the most significant, YOG 2010.
The first youth olympics games in history! :D How can I not be part of it? My position? VOLUNTEER! :D
I guess most of you will recognize all those purple peeps walking around during august 2010, with the red/green/blue pouches. :) Yupz! That's us in general.
I was assigned Liaison Officer, hence we are a little more special, we get a messenger bag, the one red and white which looks like a crumpler. :D Many people asked me where to buy, sorry, NOT FOR SALE! :p
We are not supposed to post much things about yog, so I'll just give snippets of what I did.
As liaison officer, and being one of those lucky few whose assigned principal (range from IOC presidents, NOC presidents, Athlete role models etc), in my case, one of the NOC president and his spouse, did attend the entire yog. :D Visiting games venue, tours, sight-seeing, shopping etc were the daily routine, where you need everything at your finger-tips.
The three of us (him, his wife and myself) started out strangers, who had little interactions. There was slight language barriers, but all this ironed out gradually. :D Those special moments when his country won the gold medals, I cheered along with them. His countries' people were really united, friendly etc. By the 3rd day, we know each other pretty well, coaches, athletes, press peeps, etc. :)
All fun and happy experiences alwasy comes to an end. When it was time for his departure, we were pretty sad. Lots of photos were taken, ate a few meals together, and the moment of goodbye. I had to take lots of effort to not start crying at the hotel lobby... T.T
He asked me to go for London Olympics 2012 and Nanjing 2014, those will remain on my agenda. :) We are still in contact, and hopefully he will be back in Singapore like he promised soon. :)
To all who had been part of the SYOG 2010, I hope you had as much fun as I did. To those who haven't, its just too bad. :p
